Deeviant 4790 :: built for Cody Hughes

Overview

The Dishaster and Deeviant 4790 amplifiers were custom built for Chris June and Cody Hughes of the Lafayette, IN based hard rock band Chemcoma. Chris and his band mate Cody designed their amps at the same time as compliments to one another. The Dishaster 4790 is a 2 channel, 50W 6L6 based rack mount amplifier, whereas the Deeviant 4790 is EL34 based. They were both designed to deliver a wonderful crunch rhythm tone that is round, warm, and fat, yet transparent; each string rings through even during heavy chording. The lead channel brings everything over the top and naturally cuts through the mix to ensure solos stand out from the rest of the band.

Like all other Rhodes amps, each channel has independent Gain, EQ, and Level controls for each channel. The Gain controls are usable through their entire range allowing for very diverse tonal options. To control the overall amplifier level there is a global master volume control. Chris and Cody felt that dual master volumes were unnecessary since they would always be playing the crunch channel for rhythms and the lead channel for solos. Each channel has its own Level control, so they can set the lead channel’s level for an appropriate boost. Both amps feature Presence and Resonance power amp controls and a tube buffered effects loop.
